Commission Regulation (EC) No 2303/2003of 29 December 2003on specific labelling rules for wines imported from the United States of America THE COMMISSION OF THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES,Having regard to the Treaty establishing the European Community,Having regard to Council Regulation (EC) No 1493/1999 of 17 May 1999 on the common organisation of the market in wineOJ L 179, 14.7.1999, p. 1; Regulation as last amended by Commission Regulation (EC) No 1795/2003 (OJ L 262, 14.10.2003, p. 13)., and in particular Article 53 thereof,Whereas:(1)Commission Regulation (EC) No 753/2002 of 29 April 2002 laying down certain rules for applying Council Regulation (EC) No 1493/1999 as regards the description, designation, presentation and protection of certain wine sector productsOJ L 118, 4.5.2002, p. 1; Regulation as last amended by Regulation (EC) No 1205/2003 (OJ L 168, 5.7.2003, p. 13). contains certain derogations as regards the labelling of wines imported from the United States of America which expire on 31 December 2003.(2)Since the bilateral negotiations in progress with the United States of America will not end before the end of the year, in order to prevent any disruption of trade, the rules applicable to wines imported from the United States of America should be extended in the light of the progress of the negotiations.(3)The measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the Management Committee for Wine,HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:
